828 Church embraces the following statements of truth. While the Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice, the following statements reflect our fundamental teachings.
God
We believe God exists eternally and equally in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return to earth to reign as King. (Romans 1:3-4; Hebrews 4:14-15)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He was constantly spoken of and promised by Jesus. He lives in every Christian from the moment of authentic conversion to indwell, infill, enlighten, empower, lead, guide, correct, convict, and comfort their lives. (Acts 1:8; John 14:16-18; Romans 8:15)
The Bible
We believe what the Bible says about itself which is that it is inspired by God. It is a collection of writings by human authors who were under the authority and guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is to be interpreted according to its context and purpose and when “rightly divided” it is the ultimate authority for our faith, our lives, and the practices of our church.
(2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4)
Salvation
Salvation is God’s gift to humanity but as is the case with any gift, it must be received. The way we receive this gift is only by trusting in the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. (Romans 10:9)
Generosity
We believe that tithes, offerings, and alms are God’s financial plan for the support of His work. (Malachi 3:10-12)
Discipline
We believe that discipline is a gift from Christ given to His church to promote its health and productivity. (Proverbs 19:18)
Outreach
We believe that we are the hands and feet of Jesus and that the local church is a place of healing for the hurting, a place of safety for the lost. (Matthew 25:34-40)
828 Church
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
At Eight28 Church, we believe in the power of "all things." When Paul says it, he means everything—your joys and struggles, victories and failures, heartbreaks and hopes. God weaves every moment of our lives into His perfect plan, calling us according to His purpose.
We live by this truth: that God gets the glory out of everything in our lives. Whatever season you're in, you are welcome here, where purpose, hope, and faith come together in His name.
